The Technology Development Team seeks FIT presenters for our 2nd Annual Tech Day, Friday, April 17th. We are seeking FIT faculty or staff who have cross-disciplinary expertise with technology in their industry whether that is in the classroom, business, or design.

The Fashion Institute of Technology is a professional environment populated with leaders who are influential in their respective disciplines and we look forward to bringing you together around technology for a day of sharing.

Faculty and staff of FIT are encouraged to submit their proposals for presentations or workshops for the following presentation tracks:

Session Tracks:

1. Use of technology in the classroom as a teaching aids such as:

a. Synchroneyes
b. SmartBoard
c. Document Camera
d. clickers and other collaborative technologies
e. web based learning tools and tutorials
f. research tools, search engines
g. social networking tools (Flickr, blogs, Facebook, or wikis)

2. Business and Technology -professional applications for training and development such as:

a. Web PDM and other industry specific tools
b. Marketing research and metrics technologies
c. Collaborative business technology tools
d. Linkedin, Adobe Connect or other business networking tools

3. Art and Design- Imaging/Design and Multi-Media Technology Software/hardware used in the fine arts, design, imaging and multi-media that has relevance to the disciplines taught at FIT such as:

a. Adobe Creative Suite
b. Mudroom
c. Rhino
d. Adobe After Effects

Session Types:
1 hour presentations /demonstrations
90 minute workshops in lab environment

All sessions will be held in the seminar rooms of the Conference Center in the basement of the D building. Meeting rooms will be set theater style. Computer lab use requires advance planning.

Important Deadlines and Dates:
Deadline for submissions is February 27, 2009
Notification of acceptance will be made by March 6, 2009


Submission Guidelines:
Proposals will be accepted electronically via the online form or by email to techdevelopment@fitnyc.edu. If you are unable to submit your application online, or have questions after reviewing the details, please contact the Technology Development Team. Email your questions to techdevelopment@fitnyc.edu.

Please submit the following information in your proposal via email to techdevelopment@fitnyc.edu or click here to complete the online form:

1. The title of the presentation or workshop
2. Session track
3. A brief summary of what you intend to cover and its relevance (1500-2000 characters maximum)
4. Brief bio (maximum of two presenters per session) which includesname, department, academic credential, title, email address, and phone number.


Evaluation Process:
Each proposal will be reviewed by members of the TDT, IT and other key departments for the following criteria:
• Interest to FIT and the educational community
• Content of presentation
• Relevance to conference track
