What are textiles? They are everything from the denim used to make your favorite brand of jeans, to the sheets, drapes, and furnishings that make a house a home, to the space-age outerwear that keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They are the fabrics—traditional and nontraditional—that are essential to the appeal and performance of an infinite range of products, whether it's the cotton of a T-shirt or the recycled plastic of a high-performance carpet. And they are an increasingly global enterprise, with emerging markets developing in nearly every corner of the world. FIT's Associate in Applied Science and Bachelor of Science degree programs in Textile Development and Marketing educate and prepare you for a range of demanding careers in this ever-evolving, innovative field.

In the associate-level program, you'll learn the fundamentals of producing commercial fabrics for apparel and home applications. You'll be introduced to all facets of the textile, fashion, and home furnishings industries, with emphasis on global sourcing for textile applications. Courses are enriched by laboratory work, using the latest in professional-grade equipment and software.

In the baccalaureate-level program, you'll develop an in-depth knowledge of textiles through a comprehensive understanding of the textile supply chain. You'll study textile materials, product management and development, styling, and performance evaluation, and you will have the opportunity to participate in international marketing programs that prepare you for global positions in management.
