THE ARITHMETIC AND FMM MATH PROFICIENCY TESTS

Arithmetic (or FMM Math for FMM students) proficiency is a graduation requirement for the A.A.S. degree at FIT.  The Arithmetic and FMM Math Proficiency Tests include the following topics: fractions, decimals, percents, applications and problem solving.

Students who do not earn a qualifying score on the Arithmetic or FMM Math Proficiency Tests must register for the appropriate Developmental Mathematics course(s) unless they qualify for exemption.

To schedule a placement test, please return to the Placement Tests home page and read the instructions. If you do not have access to a computer, please phone the Testing Center at 212-217-7174 as soon as possible.

THE ALGEBRA PROFICIENCY TEST

Although algebra proficiency is not a graduation requirement, we request that all incoming students take the algebra placement test.   The test covers 9th grade algebra skills.  All students in bachelor's degree programs in the School of Business and Technology must demonstrate algebra proficiency as a prerequisite for required math courses.
