What are the qualifications for housing as a “summer class” applicant?

1.  Must be 18 years old or over (proof of age required)

2.  Must be enrolled in a minimum of 1 fit class/fit internship/fit seminar

3.  Must pay for the entire summer housing program    

4.  Must not be enrolled in the residence hall for fall 2008 and spring 2009

5.  Must complete orientation questionnaire with a passing grade

 

When will the housing application be posted?

The summer class housing application will be posted on our summer housing website in April 2009.

 

Will a roommate be placed in my room?

Yes, if you have paid the double rate you will be assigned a roommate.  You may also request your own roommate.

 

What furniture is provided in the suite?

All suites consist of furnished rooms (twin bed, desk, wardrobe/closet, and dressers), kitchen, private bath, internet and cable hook up, there is no wireless. You must provide your own kitchen supplies, linens, and pillows and blankets, ethernet and cable cord.  Click HERE to view pictures of the residence halls and rooms. 

 

Is the cafeteria opened during the summer sessions?/Are meals included in cost?

No, the cafeteria is closed during the summer.  All summer residents are responsible for their own meals.

 

Do I have to pay in full?

Yes, to reserve a space full payment is due immediately after your application has been approved.

How do I get to FIT and accessible to public transportation?

FIT is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan near all public transportation, restaurants and shopping

We are walking distance from Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, Jacob Javitis Center, etc…The following

link will provide you with directions to FIT by air, rail, or road.  There is also a campus map.    

 

Do you offer refunds for summer housing?

No, there are no refunds once payment has been received.

 

Will there be a gym facility on campus?

Yes, there are gyms at both our 27th street and 31st campuses.  Both will be open limited hours during the summer.

 

May I have guests visit me in the residence hall?

Yes you may have guests visit in the residence halls.  There is limited overnight visitation during the summer
