Current FIT Residents
What are the summer housing requirements for a current FIT
resident?
Must be living in the residence halls for Spring 2009.
Must be currently enrolled as an FIT student (FIT I.D.
required).
Must pay for the entire summer housing program.
Do I have to pay in full?
Yes, to reserve a space payment is due immediately once you
have been billed. You may pay by credit card on-line, by fax
or in person at the bursar’s office.
Do you offer refunds for summer housing?
No, there are no refunds once payment has been received.
When will the application be available and how can I apply?
APPLICATION NO LONGER AVAILABLE
Do I have to be enrolled in a summer class?
No, you can remain for the summer without taking a summer
class.
If I am graduating in May 2009 can I stay for the summer?
Yes, you can stay for the summer as a graduating resident.
However, we cannot guarantee that you will remain in your
current room assignment as you are not a returning fall 2009
resident.
Can I move into my fall 2009 assignment during summer?
You will be allowed to move into your fall 2009 room
assignment if you’ve been assigned to the Kaufman Hall
ONLY. You must contract to leave your belongings in the
room. Residents who have not paid the additional fee for
living in their fall assignment will not be allowed to leave
their belongings.
When are residents moving to Kaufman or Alumni Hall?
Residents will be moved by May 19th, 2009. If
you are not asked to move before this date and you are
leaving for the summer you must contact the summer housing
coordinator. DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT NOTIFYING US, YOUR
BELONGINGS WILL BE DISCARDED AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED A
MAINTENANCE FEE.
How will I know when I have to move?
The Residential Life Office will contact you by email when
your summer assignment is available.
Will a roommate be placed in my room?
Yes, if you have paid the double rate you will be assigned a
room mate. Keep in mind that FIT opens its Residence Halls
to outside groups and Non-Fit students during the summer.
Your room mate may not be a FIT student. You can also apply
for a single room.
What happens if I am found in violation of spreading out?
PLEASE DO NOT SPREAD OUT.
If you do not have a room mate one will be assigned to you.
Your room mate most likely will move in at a later date in
the summer. We cannot notify all residents when their
roommates will move in. If you’ve spread out and your room
mate is not able to move in you will be charged for a
single. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.
Can my belongings remain in my fall assignment after the
Summer session ends?
Yes, FIT is allowing Kaufman Hall residents ONLY who are
returning to the residence halls for fall 2009 to keep their
belongings in their fall assignment for a flat rate of
$150.00
What furniture is provided in the suite?
All suites consist of furnished rooms, kitchens and private
baths. You must provide your own kitchen supplies, linens,
and pillows and blankets.
Is the cafeteria opened during the summer sessions?
No, however we are conveniently located close to many
restaurants, delis, and grocery stores.
Will there be a gym facility on campus?
Yes, there are gyms at both our 27th street and
31st campuses. Both will be open limited hours
during the \
summer.
How do I get to FIT and is it accessible to public
transportation?
FIT is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan near all
public transportation, restaurants and shopping. We
are walking distance from Penn Station, Madison Square
Garden, Jacob Javits Center, etc…Click

May I have guests visit me in the residence halls?
Yes, you may have guests visit you in the residence halls.
There is limited overnight visitation during the summer
requiring a $10 overnight fee, per night, per person. For
