Intern Frequently Asked Questions
When
will applications be available and how can I apply?
Applications are available on our website in early March
2009. APPLICATION NO LONGER AVAILABLE
What
are the requirements for Non-FIT interns?
Must be
18 years of age or over (proof of age required)
Must
show proof of current (spring 2009) college course
enrollment
Must
show proof of internship in New York City (Email or Letter
from internship employer)
Must
pay for the entire summer housing program
Must
complete on-line orientation questionnaire with a passing
grade
What
are acceptable documents needed to qualify as a Non-Fit
Intern?

Proof of internship in NYC (submit one of the
following):
- An
email sent to you directly from your NYC internship
contact person. The email should contain the company
name and/or signature of company official
- A
letter from your NYC internship contact person on
company letter head. This letter must be addressed to
you using your first and last name

Proof of age (18 years of age or older) (submit one of
the following):

Valid Drivers License

Valid Passport
-
Valid Non-Drivers ID

Birth Certificate

Proof of college course enrollment (submit one of
the following):

Spring 2009 Tuition Bill from your college/university

Spring 2009 Transcript from your college/university
(must have school name/logo

(must have school logo/name)
When
will I know if my summer housing is approved?
You
will not be approved until all required documents have been
submitted.
After
submitting your application and have uploaded all required
documents you will receive an email within 3 to 5 business
days to advise you whether or not you have
been approved for summer housing.
How
do I pay for housing?
Once
you’ve been approved you will receive an email from us
within 3 to 5 business days with instructions
to pay by credit card on-line. This is the only form of
payment that will be accepted. Payment is due in full.
If I
change my mind can I withdraw and receive a full refund
prior to move in?
There
are no refunds for summer housing once you have submitted
full payment. Please be sure that you would like to stay
before you make your payment.
Will a roommate be placed in
my room?
Yes. We encourage non-Fit
Interns to request their own room mates. If you do not
select your roommate then one will be assigned to you based
on your age. This could be an FIT resident, a fellow intern
or a summer group member. If you do not want a roommate you
may apply for a single room. Singles are assigned on a
first come, first serve basis.
I
have submitted payment and received confirmation. What is
the next step?
You will receive an email
from Residential Life with specific
instructions regarding check-in procedures. Check-in is May
30th, 2009 from
9:00AM-5:00PM. Room
assignments and roommate information will not be given to
residents prior to check-in.
What residence halls are
available for summer interns?
Only Kaufman Hall is
available to Non-Fit Interns from May 30th –
August 1st, 2009

How do I get to FIT and is
it accessible to public transportation?
FIT is conveniently located
in midtown Manhattan near all public transportation,
restaurants and shopping. We are walking distance
from Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, Jacob Javits
Center, etc…Click here for directions to

or road. There is also a
campus map.
What furniture is provided
in the suite?
All suites consist of
furnished rooms (twin bed, desk, wardrobe/closet, and night
stands), kitchen, private bath, internet and cable hook up.
Wireless internet is available. You must
provide your own kitchen supplies, linens, and pillows and
blankets, Ethernet and cable cord. Click here for pictures

Is
the cafeteria opened during the summer sessions?
No,
however we are conveniently located close to many
restaurants, delis, and grocery stores.
Will
there be a gym facility on campus?
Yes, there are gyms at both
our 27th street and 31st campuses.
Both will be open limited hours during the summer.
May I have guests visit me
in the residence halls?
Yes, you may have guests visit you in the residence halls.
There is limited overnight visitation during the summer
requiring a $10 overnight fee, per night, per person. For
