Charlotte BentleyI became interested in this course after becoming a freelance makeup artist and needing to learn how to market myself. I have taken two classes at FIT in the past and I would love to go to college here. As a makeup artist, I need to be able to represent myself in the most professional way possible, but also to represent myself as a creative person. One of the job requirements is to be as new and updated as possible, and this requires immersion in not only the beauty industry, but also that of fashion. Keeping constantly in with the right crowd requires networking correctly and professionally, and I hope that is what this course can teach me. The fashion industry is very cut-throat, and I must learn to be the best business woman I can possibly be to get the most lucrative jobs possible.  - Charlotte Bentley

Muntasir ChowdhuryGrowing up as a child I wasn’t very much into fashion. Clothing was something I knew about only because I didn’t have a choice but to wear clothes. I wasn’t into fashion as much as I am now. Trend-setters were always attractive in my eyes because I grew up with nothing but trend-setters. As the years progressed and I began to possess more knowledge in the field of fashion, a career in the fashion industry seemed like a sound possibility. Fashion, being a new subject for me, is a very diverse but yet intriguing topic and attending the pre-college courses in F.I.T will further enhance my knowledge and skill-set in the fashion industry.  - Muntasir Chowdhury

 Rebecca McCarthy

I was first told about FIT’s high school programs a year ago by a girl at my school who had launched an extremely successful handbag business. She recommended taking a design course when I told her that I was interested in creating a business of my own.  However, I decided that it would be more beneficial to get an idea of how I might even go about such a difficult task. So when it came time to finally choose what course I would enroll in, Small Business Start Up seemed like the obvious choice.  I have known since I was eleven that fashion is what I’m truly passionate about. I can’t claim that every idea I have had has been worthwhile, but I look forward to learning how to pull out the ideas that have potential, and discovering how I can organize my many ideas in a productive way so that I can create something, instead of just planning and planning when I really don’t how to make it happen.   - Rebecca McCarthy

Richard NuzzoleseI decided to choose this course to broaden my thoughts and ideas of the subject. As a young individual I  worked for Nuzzolese Brothers Ice Co, a family owned business ran by my father. This was the first true impact that played a role on my goals and future plans. Since then, I have worked as a model, retail sales man, leading to my employment at  Zara helping out with the visual design of the store. I always  knew that I wanted to pursue business and to further my education.  Being an All-State Trombonist I established great creativity along with a powerful imagination. I feel that this course can help me gather my ideas and help me along the way of a successful business. I know through the person that I am and my love for fashion, I will make the best out of this course to pursue the steps that will make up the many paths to my success.

Christina FranchiniI choose this course because I would like open my own fashion boutique and I figured this course could start me off with the basic knowledge and information I need to achieve my goals. My two best friends and I used to always talk about having our own store. In the past 2 years, as I’ve been looking at colleges and considering my plans for the future, I have decided that opening a boutique is what I want to do in my future. I have come up with several ideas in my head for how I will design my store, what the name of it will be, and what kind of merchandise I will have, and I am hoping that this course will help make those ideas a reality. I do not yet have the proper knowledge needed to pursue my goals, however I am willing to learn and I hope I can get a lot out of this course.  - Christina Franchini

My name is Sandra Thelusmond and I decided to take this class because I want to learn more about Fashion and the Fashion business. I have a strong interest in Fashion as well as journalism so I decided to take this class to explore that interest. From a young age I decided that any career path I would choose I would somehow have to incorporate my love of Fashion into it. One day I hope to have my own Fashion Corporation which will serve as an umbrella to the different Fashion related companies I want to own. The first of these companies that I want to start is my own boutique. I love to shop and I would be picking out all the merchandise that my boutique would be selling. I like trendy pieces but I firmly believe in making your outfit and each item of clothing you wear unique and your own. I think others will enjoy shopping in my boutique and will enjoy my sense of style. - Sandra Thelusmond
