PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT PROFESSOR HEADS SUNY COUNCIL
Ari Vega has been appointed president of the SUNY Council of Business Faculty/Administrators, and will officially take office in October. As current vice president/president elect, he helps simplify the process of transferring business credits from one program to another. To aid this process, he compiled and analyzed current business course information from every SUNY campus. For more information, contact Ari Vega.


The Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association is proud to announce that this year’s National Technology Achiever Award for Excellence in Education has been awarded to Prof. Ari Vega of FIT in recognition for his life-long commitment and excellence in the field of education.

Professor Vega has proven himself to be a true leader and visionary, a man with extraordinary talent, integrity and energy. On behalf of LISTA, Jose Marquez, the President and CEO of Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association, and LISTA’s National Board, we congratulate Professor Ari Vega and FIT for winning this prestigious award.

This year’s award will be presented at LISTA’s National Latino Technology Achievers Awards Gala to be held at Pier Sixty, in New York City on the evening of July 27th, 2006.

December 1, 2005 - Flirty & Feminine - An article about Joanne Richards appeared in the Woman Wise section of the Sunday Guardian newspaper.   Joanne Richards stated "FIT is located on 7th Avenue which is called the Fashion Avenue.  There you are really involved in the whole fashion experience.  We had our own museums where you could see past eras in fashion.  It is a seriously creative environment that brings out the creativity in you."

Ms. Richards has started her own business JR Design Clothing.  She in the process of designing a catalogue from which clients can order her designs.  The catalogue, which will was launched in mid-October, was distributed free via-email.  Her outlook is to expand into men's and children's lines and to become an internationally recognized name.

Ms. Richards obtained her Bachelors degree in Production Management for Fashion.

April 18, 2005 - Production Management student launches a successful business.

The article written by Mina Hochberg appeared in the amNewYork free newspaper.  It reads as follows: "Barking Irons - Out of the land of excess that is the vintage tee glut comes Barking Irons, an intelligent, gritty and unpretentious line of tees.  New York Native Daniel Casarella started the line in 2003, drawing on his NYC history erudition to print symbols and slogans from 19th Century New York.  For example, the "Puff Ka Derns & Woodchips" tee pay tribute to a crooked grocery store that use to exist among the downtown tenements.  Tees are available from $59-$65 at Barney's or barkingirons.com.  read more...

 


April 8, 2005 - Production Management presentation held on Career Day at the High School of Fashion Industries

Prof. Ari Vega presented the Production Management Department curriculum and career opportunities.  The students and instructors attending the presentation had many questions and requested more information on how to enroll into the program.  With the many opportunities that the Production Management offers in their curriculum, students seeking careers opportunities in Production Management will find that there are wide variety of positions here in New York City and around the world.  read more...
