Sourcing Directors
"Sourcing
directors work with sourcing personnel to assure that the
most cost-effective vendor of materials, production, and/or
finished goods is acquired that can meet expected quality
and service levels. Finding a vendor may be a choice
between using the firm's own production capabilities or
outsourcing the acquisition to other vendors in the country
or in the world market.
Sourcing
directors select and work with agents in various parts of
the world. They are knowledgeable about international
trade issues, locations where various type of products are
made, and economic conditions and cultural traditions of
many countries. They may manage the product
development and sourcing of a specific firm or manage the
product development and sourcing of specific products of a
number of different firms."
