Specification Writers

"Specification writers prepare detailed specifications from the brief descriptions and samples provided by designers, merchandisers, or product managers.  Garment samples are analyzed to provide all the descriptive data needed by purchasing, production, marketing, and merchandising.  The amount of detail and sources of data used in specifications vary for each firm.  In many firms, this the responsibility of the technical designer or assistant technical designer.  Some product specifications are developed by suppliers or may written by laboratory technicians, fit specialists, or the product development team.  Laboratory analysis is used to determine and/or verify appropriate specifications."
