Study Abroad

PH119 – International Photographic Study and Practice
This basic elective photography course focuses on the photographic image within a global environment. Students explore cultural themes and develop an understanding of digital photographic techniques including the proper use of digital cameras, managing digital files and sharing images via an image sharing website.
1.5 credits; 3 studio hours

The photography department at FIT held its first study abroad course in northern Italy in summer 2009. The class spends one weeek in Florence looking at art and photographing the city. After Florence the class moves to Milan for ten days to experience that city's cosmopolitain energy and comtemporary lifestyle through photographs. Field trips include a ferry ride up Lake Como to Bellagio. FIT is partnering with Politecnico Di Milano for the class. The Politecnico Di Milano has state-of-the-art photography facilities that include shooting studios and digital labs.
