Portfolio Requirements

AAS Applicants
As a candidate for enrollment in the Photography A.A.S. Degree Program, you must submit a portfolio of your personal work. Your presentation should consist of any combination of black and white or color photographs.

Your portfolio should contain 24 to 30 of your most creative images. In addition to your photographic portfolio you may also present work in other mediums.

Although we prefer to see photographs in your portfolio presentation that you have processed and printed yourself, commercially finished photographs are acceptable if you do not have access to a darkroom or digital lab.

Your portfolio presentation should be organized, image quality should be consistent and represent areas of personal interest to you. You do not have to show what you consider to be fashion or advertising images. Assemble your portfolio to tell us what you would like us to know about you and your particular vision of the world.

Our evaluation of your work will be based on the following criteria:

1. Your sense of design, imagination and creativity.
2. Your interest in diverse types of subject matter.
3. A willingness to be experimental (whether successful or not on the first attempt).
4. Your ability to communicate complex ideas visually.
5. The organization, neatness and care that you take in presenting your portfolio.

The AAS application now also includes a home test. Please refer to your application packet for details.
