| Can I request materials listed in StyleCat if they are

|
Items listed as "lost," "missing," or "no
item" may be requested through ILL. If items are listed as
"checked out," "overdue," "on order," or "being repaired"
please visit the Circulation Desk and ask that the items be
placed on hold for you. These items may not be requested
through ILL. |

| How long does it take for an ILL item to get to
FIT? |
|
Generally, only one week. However,
hard to find items can take longer and it is not out of the
ordinary for an item to take up to 3 weeks to get here.
Please plan in advance for important projects. |
| How will I know when the item I requested has
arrived? |
|
You will receive an e-mail to your FIT
e-mail account. |
| Where do I pick up my ILL item? |
|
Items may be picked up from the
Circulation Desk during regular library hours. |
| How long will I be able to keep the
item? |
|
 |
The
typical loan period is 4 weeks. The lending library
determines the length of the loan and whether or not the loan
can be renewed. |
|
 |
Some
materials may be restricted to "library use only." In
this case, the item will be kept for you at the Circulation
Desk for you to use on-site like a reserve book. |
|
|
Lending
libraries may also restrict or prohibit photocopying of
materials. |
| How do I renew an ILL item? |
|
 |
You must
request a renewal BEFORE the item is due. Otherwise, you
will be charged overdue fines. |
|
 |
If your
renewal is approved you will be notified of your new due date
via e-mail. The lending library determines whether or not
the loan can be renewed. |

| Where do I return the ILL item? |
|
 |
Please
return your ILL items to the Circulation Desk and hand them to
a staff member. DO NOT drop them in the book
drop. |
|
 |
You do not
need to return photocopies of articles. They are yours
to keep. |
| What happens if an ILL item becomes
overdue? |
|
Every effort should be made to return ILL
material on time. Overdue items jeopardize FIT's ability
to borrow items from other libraries. All users
(faculty, staff, and students) are charged an overdue fine of
$1.00 per day per item until the material is returned.
In addition, your ILL privileges will be suspended until
overdue materials are returned. |
|
What
happens if an ILL item is lost, stolen, or
damaged? |
|
You are responsible for all replacement
costs which are determined by the lending
library. |
|
Where can I get more information? |
|
 |
E-mail the
Interlibrary Loan Department at libill@fitnyc.edu or stop by the
Circulation Desk. |
