Computers in the Library

The Library has computer workstations on all three floors. Many computer workstations are designated for locating and using information from the Internet, CD-ROMs, and other specialized resources to which the Library subscribes.   Other workstations are also available to aid students in assignments, having many of the software programs used at FIT.

  • Computer workstations are located on all three Library floors.

  • Wireless connections are available on all three Library floors.

  • Laptop computers can only connect through our wireless network.

  • Personal software may not be loaded onto the Library’s computers.

OPEN COMPUTER LABS

Computer labs in the Library are available during regular Library hours, until 30 minutes before closing except for Reference Reading Room computers, they are available until 10 minutes before Library closing time. Changes in hours will be posted on the door as far in advance as possible.

PRINTERS BY FLOOR

  • 4th Floor: Pay for Print Printer is located in E436 (Reference Reading Room) and is available until 10 minutes before Library closing time.

  • 5th Floor: Pay for Print Printers are located in E509 and E539 and are available until 30 minutes before Library closing time.  The 5th floor has extended hours, please see Library hours.

  • 6th Floor: Pay for Print Printer is located in the 6th floor hallway and is available until 30 minutes before Library closing time.

  • To add money to your FIT printing account via your FIT ID card, use the PHiL machine located on the 5th floor, across from the Circulation Desk

PERIPHERALS

Computer peripherals are available for check out at the Circulation Desk on the 5th floor.  They are free of charge.

  • Digital Cameras

  • Wacom Tablets

  • Media Card Readers

SCANNERS

  • Scanners are located on the 5th floor & 6th floor.

  • Scanner use is free. Users must supply digital storage media.

  • Scanners are available only to current FIT students, faculty, and staff.  Visitors to the Library do not have access to scanners.

CD BURNING

  • All computer workstations are equipped with CD burning software.

  • CD burning is free. Users must supply own CD's.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY STUDENT WORKSTATIONS

  • 2 Assistive Technology Student Workstations are located in the 5th floor hallway outside of E539.

  • These stations have the following software: Kurzweil 1000, Kurzweil 3000, Screen Magnifyer and Epson Flatbed scanners.
