Locate
books and periodicals that are not in our collections
and refer patrons to other library collections or
provide interlibrary loan service |

Provide
Information Literacy instruction for both general and assignment-specific library class
sessions. For additional information about
bibliographic instruction, orientations, or library

Assist
faculty, upon request, by reviewing research assignments
in advance for appropriate, accurate references to

The Library
produces a number of materials which are prepared by FIT Librarians and Library
Staff.
Printed copies are available at the Reference Desk (4th floor). Many are
available online through
Research
Guides.
Subject bibliographies of
selected titles in our collection covering specific subject areas such as
Apparel Manufacturing Management, Costume, Fashion, Fashion Merchandising
Management, International Trade, and Textiles.
Information bulletins/research
guides to assist in research and the use of the FIT library, such as
Information on Fashion Designers, Searching and Evaluating Internet Resources,
and Style Guide for Bibliography and Footnotes. Information bulletins also
organize resources in subject areas such as Business Reference Resources and
Demographic Sources.
Internet guides to selected
websites for Apparel, Fashion, Textiles, U.S. Government and more.

All materials in
4th floor collection areas are library use only. Art Reference books may be
checked out to faculty for classroom use only (see below).
Reference Desk Collection
Ready reference collection of
specialized directories, dictionaries, market reports, collective designer
biographies, current statistical and demographic resources.
A current FIT ID is required in
order to use Reference Desk books.
Art Reference Collection, E-424/425
Collection of visually strong books
on art, fashion, interior design, textile design, and photography and including
picture books on many subjects.
Bound fashion sketches
Faculty can arrange to borrow Art
Reference materials for classroom use. To check the books out, faculty must come
to the Library in person with their currently valid FIT ID.
Reference Stacks
Includes encyclopedias,
dictionaries, directories, handbooks, and bibliographies.
