Request  Materials for the Library to Purchase

 

  • Requests for books, periodicals and non-print materials should be made directly to the Acquisitions Department.

  • To have course assignment materials available at the beginning of the semester, please order materials at least 6 weeks prior to the opening day of classesClick for information about placing materials on reserve.

  • We encourage you to recommend materials at any point in the semester, but we ask you to understand the delays in the ordering/receiving process. 

  • Not all requests can be honored because of budget constraints.

  • Library faculty order materials for various subject categories.  Click for a list of subject selectors.

Submitting Requests for Purchase
 

  • Written requests are preferable with as much bibliographic information as possible. 

  • Standard recommendation forms are available; please call and ask for a supply.  Request forms are also available at the Reference Desk, 4th floor.

  • You may also submit requests by telephone or e-mail.

  • You may make your request online. 
     

 

 

Gifts and Donations

 

  • The Library welcomes gifts from FIT faculty, FIT alumni or other donors.  You will receive a written acknowledgement of your gift. 

  • Faculty publications are often highlighted on the library website.  These publications are also searchable in StyleCat Library Catalog using FIT authors as a Subject.

  • The Library reserves the right to decide whether the donated material is appropriate for the FIT collection.

  • The Library is not allowed to make appraisals for income tax purposes.  We can, however, provide you with a list of commercial appraisers.
