POLICIES
Please Note:   All Special Collections access is by appointment.  Researchers should e-mail a request for an appointment to gml_spcollections@yahoo.com as far in advance as possible.

Due to the special nature of the collection, the following policies are enforced:
Before you arrive:

Registration forms must be competed and processed prior to obtaining service or access to materials.
Prior to your appointment, you must provide detailed information (title and call number) of the items you wish to consult. Use StyleCat   Online Catalog to find this information. 
You are limited to 3 linear feet (one cart) of items per appointment.
Failure to provide this information by noon of the day of your appointment will result in automatic cancellation of your appointment.
 
When you arrive:
 
Checkin is required with the Security Desk in E Lobby. A valid ID is required. The guard will give you a visitor pass/id to place on your person. Please proceed to the 5th floor and take the stairs to the 4th floor.
A valid ID is required. The ID card is retained until materials are returned and accounted for by the staff.  A government issued, current, photo identification card is considered a valid ID.
Patrons can wait for their appointment in the chairs outside of E435A.  Please be patient as the staff may be delayed due to previous researchers, etc.
Coats, packages, bags, equipment cases and all personal belongings are placed in secure lockers provided.

USE PENCIL ONLY. Ink in any form may not be used.
Only laptops and digital cameras without cases, are allowed in the Reading Room.
Digital cameras are allowed; however, a “Permission to Photograph” form(s) needs to be filled out before any photograph(s) can be taken.
The Reading Room is limited to 3 patrons at a time.
Cell phone usage is not permitted in the Reading Room.
You are limited to 3 linear feet (one cart) of items per appointment.
Photocopying services are available on a case by case basis.
A staff member is present at all times during the appointment.

Acid free bookmarks are available. Please ask for them.

Use the white cotton gloves, which are provided, when handling materials.

Late Appointments
Appointment times can not be extended to accommodate delays in arrival. If you know you will be late, please call (212) 217-4385 in advance to inform the staff.
