Women in Progress, a non-profit based in Ghana, Africa is looking for volunteers and interns who are educated in International Trade. WIP believes that the most effective way for women to realize social and economic justice is to achieve economic independence through self-employment. The International Trade program is dedicated to empowering women in Ghana through enabling small woman-owned businesses to compete effectively in the larger national and global markets. Volunteers assigned to the International Trade Program will collaborate with qualifying woman-owned businesses in Ghana to accomplish various objectives needed to reach the goal of economic independence.

The New York City Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-NY) and Tyler Search Consultants  will hold a lively discussion about the current status of compliance careers and compensation.

Kristine Quick, Barbara Stevens and Bill Conroy of Tyler Search Consultants will lead the discussion on several interesting topics:

- How the recession has shaped today's global trade job market
- How typical compensation packages are determined and structured 
- Who gets hired and why 
- The four most important questions you need answered on an interview 

Tyler Search Consultants  are recognized experts in the strategic search and placement of Trade Compliance professionals here and abroad.  They are well known for their Annual Salary Survey published by the Journal of Commerce.   Tyler is also a regular presenter and speaker at events held by the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI) and the International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA) and many other Trade groups.

Please help me congratulate former student Andrea Reyes on her acceptance as Director of Product Development for Light Gives Heat. Light Gives Heat, a non- government organization based in Jinja, Uganda, works with underprivileged

Ugandan woman to help them support their families. As a graduate from Pattern

Making and International Trade and Marketing, Andrea will use the skills she learned at F.I.T. by creating products from recycled goods and marketing to the United States.
