IN492 International Trade Practicum: Israel

January 2-22, 2007

Check this page periodically for important updates

Latest Page Update: April 29, 2006

Due to conflict of Hezbollah (Lebanon)  and Israel and the possibility that this conflict might not end by the time of our trip in January, the destination of the 2007 Practicum has been changed to BRAZIL. We will be doing the same projects that we had in mind for Israel but in the context of Brazil. As of now, Rio de Janeiro will be the main focus of our visit but I do not rule out the possibility of traveling to Sao Paulo as well. We are working on details and I will have a complete itinerary by the end of September. The fee of the trip will be the same.

Students who already registered:  Please let the ITM Secretary, Dasia Davis, at Dasia_Davis@FITnyc.edu , or at (212) 217-8490 whether (a) you are no longer participating in the 2007 Practicum, or (b) you ARE coming to Brazil.

WHY ARE WE GOING TO ISRAEL?

The course "IN492 International Trade Practicum" travels every winter to a country to observe its fashion industries. We have selected Israel as our 2007 destination because, with a population of 6 million people --smaller than the population of Brooklyn and Queens,  and with less land than New Jersey-- Israel and its people have historically played an important role in the apparel and textiles industries. Recognized as the Middle East's fashion business center, Israel's fashion style blends the modern and the ancient worlds.

In this trip, we will visit shopping malls, apparel and jewelry factories, trade associations, government agencies, and historical sites. This class is open to all matriculated and non-matriculated students.   Discover Israel

TRIP FEE

The fee for this trip will is $2,950 plus tuition (3 credits)  and it includes: Airfare and Hotel Transfers, Double Room Accommodations, Daily Continental Breakfast, Sightseeing tours. Additionally, students should budget approximately US$10-25 per day for meals, gratuities, and personal expenses. Check this page regularly for updates on trip costs.

Since the practicum field trips are scheduled in winter semesters they are not eligible for financial aid. However, students loans are available from banks and other lending institutions. If you are planning to get a student loan to finance this trip, get a letter stating the cost of the trip and the purpose of the loan from the Office of International Programs (Room B-119) and attach it to the loan application.
