Shares “T:” and “N:”

Class Shares “T:”

Class Shares (formerly called “ T ransport”) are shared directories for those classes that are held in the Instructional Computing Center (ICC), and other computer facilities at FIT. These shares are mapped by default as the T: drive.

A shortcut named “Connect to your Class Share” has been placed on every student’s and faculty’s desktop that allows any user to connect to any class share. When an appropriate class is entered, the “T:” drive will be mapped to the corresponding class share, and a shortcut to “T:” will be placed on the desktop.

Please bear in mind that the FIT IS Not Responsible For Loss of Files and Directories in the Class Shares. If any user notices that any share is not working, he/she must notify 7-Help immediately.

New Features of Transport

What was formerly known as “Files for Students” has been replaced by an “Assignment” folder, a new feature of Transport. Each student can access files placed in the “Assignment” folder by their instructor. Another new feature of Transport is the addition of a “Dropbox” folder also known as an “inbox.” This feature is used to give assignments or files to your instructor. Files in this folder can only be accessed by Faculty.

Personal Shares “N:”

Each student is given a personal folder for storage of files under his or her account. Once you log on, you can access your student folder by double clicking on the Home Directory (N) icon.

Important Reminder: Users may use their home directories, the “N:” drive to store their files permanently. It is suggested that all users back-up their files by using either a Zip disk, or a CD, or a floppy disk.
