A Welcome from Internship Center Director Jeanne Golly

Dear Highly-Valued FIT Stakeholders,

Welcome to this, our continuing effort to communicate with you on a regular basis and to share news of Internship Center operations and activities!

The FIT Internship Center is highly regarded for the rich college-credit-bearing, two-pronged experiential-education program it has offered  FIT and other students for over 20 years. Its mission is to help students learn how to identify good career fits, advance professionally in those careers, and market themselves professionally throughout their work lives and over a number of different careers.

Internship Center faculty members, business professionals all, assure that students participate in customized, semester-long learning experiences focused on benefiting both interns and sponsor organizations.

In the 2007-2008 academic year, FIT's Internship Center will provide 1800+ students in more than 25 academic majors with credit-bearing internships in the sponsor organizations of their choice.  These students come from FIT Schools of Art and Design, Business and Technology, and Graduate Studies.  As well, they come from educational institutions all over the world to participate in the College's FIT/NYC Summer Internship Program. We are delighted to report that approximately one-third of our students are offered full-time jobs after graduation by the sponsor organizations for which they have interned.

Our deep gratitude goes to the 3000+ sponsor organizations making their executives available to supervise and mentor our students.  We couldn't offer experiential-education courses without the support of these prized partners, and we are gratified that they also benefit by being the first to discover new talent, first to identify enthusiastic young thinkers offering fresh approaches, first to encourage especially capable young people to enter their businesses and other organizations.

I am very hopeful that this website will greatly facilitate communication with all our valued stakeholders and that you will let us hear from you.  With pleasure we will do our best to provide answers to your questions and to supply whatever special kind of internship assistance you might need.

With warmest wishes,

Jeanne Golly
