Presidential Scholars Application Instructions:
Parts I and II
The Presidential
Scholars Program is FIT's honors program for students in all
majors of the college. For more information on the program,
go to
www.fitnyc.edu/honors.
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
We are looking for students who have demonstrated academic
excellence and who are searching for a stimulating and
enriching honors program. Candidates should have:

A high school GPA of 3.5
or higher

Solid SAT or ACT scores
The Presidential Scholars Program does not have a
minimum SAT /ACT score for admissions. While the average
SAT total score has been approximately 1830, the honors
committee welcomes applicants and offers admission to
students with a range of scores.

A commitment to honors
education
Candidates will be assessed based on their academic and
extracurricular record, their responses to essay questions,
and letters of recommendation.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
The application is in 2 parts. Part I is online and Part II
must be mailed in. Send requested documents (copies
accepted) to: Fashion Institute of Technology, Presidential
Scholars Program, room B602, Seventh Avenue at 27th Street,
New York, NY 10001.
PART I: After clicking on the link below, please
complete all of the questions. You will also be asked to
submit an essay. You should have your essay written before
you begin filling out the application. Please paste it into
the text box provided. You will NOT be able to save your
entries and come back to the form later.
Essay Topic:
The Presidential Scholars
Program focuses on enhancing the liberal arts experience
at FIT. What impact do you think taking liberal arts
honors course will have on you and your future career
development? Use this essay to give us a window on who
you are.
PART II: Once you have completed and submitted Part
I, mail the following documents to:

Two letters of
recommendation. One letter should be from an instructor
who knows you as a student in a non-art course.

Copy of your SAT or ACT
scores. (Our department is not listed with College
Board, so please send us a copy from your records,
unless it is listed on your high school transcript.)

Copy of or original high school
transcript with cumulative GPA
