IN THE NEWS:  2007

Mary Shields, class of 2002, is back in the Big City.  Mary's been hired by Martha Stewart Omnimedia as their Senior Copywriter.  She had been at Sferra Bros.

IN THE NEWS: SPRING 2007

The Today Show (NBC) featured Lifetime’s Create n Celebrate Pull Apart Cupcakes  March 16 between 8:00 and 9:00 am.  Giada De Laurentis, host of Food Network's Everyday Italian, told Today Show viewers about the Pull Apart Cupcakes and other products from the Housewares Show.  Congratulations to Karen Sullivan and Brianne Lee (HP class of 2006, now working for Lifetime Brands) for producing an innovative (and fun) product that stood out at the show to make the cut on this national broadcast outlet.  Thank you to Carolyn LeFavour for the inspiration and to the Design Team for bringing the idea to life.  This was truly a collaborative effort on the part of sales, marketing and design.  Click here to see a video clip from Brianne's appearance on the Today Show.

IN THE NEWS: SPRING 2006 by Jennifer Munich

Class of 2004’s, Lorna O’Regan wrote, “I had an exciting start to 2006.  After a long Christmas vacation in Ireland and Germany with my family I settled into a new job with Starwood Hotels and Resorts as a Designer renovating and building Sheraton Hotels worldwide.  This job is a terrific fit for me and I thoroughly enjoy every minute of my new career!  About 3 weeks ago my boyfriend proposed to me on top of the Empire State building on a beautiful clear night.  It was very romantic and a true New York experience!  We are planning to tie the knot on Sept 9, 2006 in Ireland with our families and friends.  It's a truly very exciting time in my life both personally and professionally.”

I just bumped into Nicole Domingues, class of 2000, at 295 5th Avenue. She is still working at Aussino as a design director and travels a lot for work. She just got back from China.

Nicole then informed me how Lisa Battaglia Signorile, class of 2000, now works as a design director at Sunham.

I found out that Class of 2005’s Jana Weill is now a marketing assistant at Donghia. She is in great hands there working with Candice Eng, an HP grad as well.

Ariel Saffner, Class of 2005, just landed at Nautica Home doing creative merchandising. Ironically enough I interviewed there a few months ago. I am glad a Home Products student got the job though!

Class of 2004’s Jasmine Ho left her job at the Gift Building and is now looking for a job in product development. Anyone hear of anything drop her an email at xj_ho@yahoo.com

Jenny Sullivan, Class of 2001, is now teaching HP 201 along with David Miles, another HP grad. Good Luck Jenny!

Still running her successful personal shopping business in Florida, Lindsay Palmirotto, class of 2004, is getting married. She is especially excited to hit the ski slopes in Whistler, British Columbia where she is going for her honeymoon.

Stephanie Egger, class of 2003, wrote me from Boston her new home. She is very excited since she is getting married! Stephanie is also still working in tile as she was in NYC but now at Discover Tile at the Boston Design Center.

Kristine Lazaras, Class of 2002, travels quite often for work but not overseas but rather domestically to what is left of West Point Home’s domestic mills. She gets to go to Clemson, NC and to Abbeville, AL and Chipley, FL. Bet many of you have never been there

Jessica Bohonyi, class of 2002, is enjoying her fairly new job at Macher working as a project manager. Macher is a promotional company for the beauty and travel industries.

David Miles, Class of 2001, dream is becoming a reality. He is opening his home store, Hood and Co., in Catskill, NY. Grand opening is slated for Memorial Day weekend.

Luna Du has gone on to bigger and better things after WestPoint Home. She is now running her own design business www.globallycute.com selling baby/kids apparel.AND is expecting her 2nd child.  Good Luck.

As for me, Jennifer Munich, Class of 2001,  I landed a job in January at Baltic Linen working as a design assistant on bath towels. Nicole Westra, Class of 2002, also works there as a bedding designer.

It helps to stay connected. I got my foot in the door and landed my job thanks to my networking with fellow Home Products alum, Nicole. I did not really know Nicole before, but our HP roots surely helped me with my job search.
I encourage you all to do the same.
Continue to email me about yourself. I look forward to hearing from more of you the next time I write up “In the News.” The sooner I get news from you the sooner I can write an update!!!

Best,
Jennifer Munich
