Grantseeking Basics for Individuals in
the Arts
If you are an individual involved in the arts and looking for funding to
complete a project, mount an exhibition, put on a performance, conduct research,
or anything else arts-related, Grantseeking Basics for Individuals in the Arts
will show you how to:
Identify funders in the arts.
Explore the option of fiscal sponsorship.
Create a step-by-step plan to find funding for
your needs as an individual grantseeker.

How to Approach a Foundation
Attendees will learn how to initiate contact with potential funders; plan calls

The Grants Office works with faculty and staff in procuring public grants,
from identifying funding sources to preparing grant applications. Grant Liaisons representing every
department are informed about grant opportunities, and relevant seminars, and workshops. They then pass this material on to the
appropriate individuals in their department.
We can be a valuable resource for faculty
who have questions regarding individual or departmental grant research. The
Grants Office subscribes to a range of publications on funding opportunities,
and acts as a clearinghouse of funding resources for the college. Our office
also holds a collection of reference books on public and private funding sources
in the arts, business, technology, liberal arts and specialized programs.
SPIN (Sponsored Information Network), is an
online database of funding opportunities. SPIN provides detailed information on
fellowships, research, curriculum development, travel, sabbatical and
publication support.
The Grants Digest provides information on grants, fellowships,
residencies and resources for artists, researchers, writers and others.
