Our Mission is to:

"To Live a creative life, we must loose our fear of being wrong!"-Joseph Chilton Pearce

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!

SUNY General Education/Liberal Arts courses are a required part of your AAS, BFA/BS degree program.  If you would like to arrange an advisement session to discuss questions about these requirements, call (212)217-3237 or    e-mail genedinfo@fitnyc.edu

FIT’s Liberal Arts Core Curriculum is a series of courses in English, Math, Science, Social Science, History, Art History, Foreign Languages, The Arts, and Humanities that provide the foundation of a liberal education – an education that makes us better thinkers, writers, communicators, planners, and decision makers.  Developing these skills is the most important reason for coming to college because without them you can not succeed in your chosen career. The school of Liberal Arts at FIT provides the structure and supportive faculty that will help you acquire these skills by incorporating Liberal Arts courses into your major program.  This Core Curriculum contains the courses required to meet your SUNY General Education Requirements. Therefore, at the same time that you are completing your Liberal Arts requirements, you are also meeting the SUNY Gen Ed requirements.

We would like to encourage you to take an active thoughtful approach to planning your schedule for next semester. Get critical information about General Education and Liberal Arts requirements now, so that you can make timely informed decisions about your academic future.
