Getting Started: An Overview

Back to Self-Publishing Home

STEP ONE: Understand the Difference Between Official and Unofficial FIT Pages

Official pages communicate official information about FIT or provide access to information useful to FIT students, faculty, staff, alumni, or affiliates and include pages published by or about FIT schools,  departments, offices, centers, programs, committees, and courses.

Unofficial pages include pages published by or about student organizations and individual faculty or staff members.

Please read more about official and unofficial pages in the FIT Web Content Policy to determine what kinds of pages you will be publishing.

STEP TWO: Familiarize Yourself with FIT's Web Policies and Principles

Principles for the FIT Web
FIT Web Content Policy
FIT Web Design Guidelines for Official Pages

STEP THREE: Request Server Space

FORMS
Request for Server Space: Official Pages
Request for Server Space: Unofficial Pages
Request for Server Space: Student Organizations

Note: You can only use FIT email addresses (ending in fitnyc.edu) as contact emails on these forms.

STEP FOUR (official pages only): Access the Microsoft FrontPage Templates

In order to maintain consistency and integrity among our official web pages, we require the use of a series of Microsoft FrontPage templates that have been specially designed for the college for use on its Web site. Official pages produced outside of these templates will not be permitted on college servers. Click on view below to view the specific template. Templates will automatically be added to your web directory once it has been created.
