In FIT's online courses,
all of the activities of a traditional class are the same -- students read
course materials, write papers, do research, take exams, and communicate with
their instructor and fellow students. The students and the faculty use
technology to accomplish these tasks. The learning is both interactive and collaborative. Students leverage the wealth of resources available through the
Internet to support their learning.
In an online course at FIT, you do your coursework over the internet on a more
flexible schedule—your schedule. You can do your work at times convenient for
you.
Online courses are best for independent learners who communicate comfortably
through reading and writing. You will be expected to participate several times a
week online with your class.
Online courses are open to both degree and non-degree students.

ONLINE TUTORING!
For students in
online courses
If you are taking an online Math
course and you live far from FIT please read carefully.
If proctored exams are used
or if you cannot come to one of the pre-arranged exam times, you will need to
arrange for a proctor, in cooperation with your professor. A proctor can be any
reputable professional person, acceptable to the professor, who is not related
to you, and with whom the faculty member can communicate directly via phone as
well as fax and/or email. Examples could include staff at another college's
testing center, a teacher or librarian, a church secretary, a corporate trainer
or office manager, etc. Arranging for an exam proctor early in your online
course is strongly recommended.
