Fashion Art for Fashion Designers-

If you dream of becoming a fashion designer, merchandiser, or stylist, this course can help make that dream a reality. Learn the elements of a basic fashion design sketch and start to develop a portfolio of your own. Students learn to develop a fashion figure and explore the basic silhouettes used in fashion design.

Fashion Design Portfolio

Prerequisites: HAR 016, 122, or 143; or HMW 151
How do you develop a professional fashion design portfolio? In this course, you'll create a small collection and learn simple rendering techniques and presentation formats. Projects in the course will help you begin your portfolio

Model Drawing for Fashion Design
Prerequisites: HAR 016, 122, or 143; or HMW 151
Make your drawings come to life! Sketch from a live model, learning specific fabric and rendering techniques, and then interpret your drawings into original fashion designs.

Research historic and contemporary designers from A-Z to learn about their contributions to the fashion industry. Students will create projects based on their designer of choice, such as Chanel, Gianni Versace, and Thierry Mulger. Students will also create designs inspired by paintings, "Old Hollywood" glamour, and notorious designers. Finally, students will research divas of their day to discover their contributions to beauty and fashion standards. Students will complete a small design collection based on their research.

HAR 092
Quick-Sketching Watercolor Techniques for Fashion Designers
Prerequisites: HAR 016, 090, 122, or 143; or HMW 151
Sketch from a live, clothed model using a variety of techniques with a special focus on watercolor applications. Learn fabric and rendering skills while developing your own signature drawing style. Sketches can be developed into unique fashion designs.

Instructor's Comments: Students will observe extensive demonstrations with full explanations and step-by-step approaches to the watercolor technique I have developed through my 28 years in teaching. Students will improve their hand-eye coordination and their powers of observation in a supportive classroom environment. ~Professor Emanuel-King

HAR 122
Designing for Entertainers

Showgirls, hip-hop dancers, clowns, and opera singers
−they're all performers and they all need special clothes. This course familiarizes you with various entertainment fields and teaches you to create original designs for everything from awards presentations and Las Vegas revues to music videos and circus acts.

Adobe Photoshop for Fashion Design-Art-

Use Adobe Photoshop's digital tools, techniques, and filters to enhance your work. View your original designs in a variety of solids, plaids and prints you design yourself.  Learn how to create virtual backgrounds for your drawings and other tips and tricks for enhancing your presentations. Projects are adaptable to student portfolios and school projects.

You know what's hot today. Here's where you can learn to create what will be hot tomorrow. This course focuses on junior sportswear, urbanwear, and gothic styles. You'll explore major influences on junior trends and research the youth market, then develop your own brand, including several fashion lines perfect for your peer group.
