Maria Montalvo

It could be said that the CPS stands in a league of its own. As CPS Account Supervisor, Maria Montalvo would certainly agree. “We handle all our own department expenses and payroll, no other department does that,” she explains. Given registration, that the CPS programs offered change every semester, and there are always new instructors and guest speakers, Maria has a challenging job.

Using a combination of common sense, trouble shooting, and computer skills, Montalvo makes a ‘no perfect system’ the best it can be. Not only does she handle accounts payable and receivables for all the CPS seminars and instructors, but she also manages the purchasing of all CPS course materials and is in charge of accounting issues for all domestic and international contracts. Daily she tackles numerous financial issues relating to the continuous growth of the CPS programs.

With such a demanding work load, Montalvo has not taken any CPS classes to date. She declared that ‘Demystifying Fashion Forecasting’ was at the top of her list. But since she is the talented CPS ‘multi-tasker’ and consistently adjusting budget lines, preparing financial related reports and insuring that instructors get paid properly and on time, finding time to take a class just never seems to happen.
