Workshop Programs

CET workshops are announced on the FIT Portal, the CET Website Calendar, on the CET plasma set-up and through paper posters and voice announcements circulated to the FIT community. Please check these resources for details.


CURRENT PROGRAMS:

Introduction to Angel
This general information session will introduce you to Angel. A  demonstrative Power point presentation, followed by  Q&A,  provides basic information. This event is designed for faculty not yet using Angel, but who are interested in Angel's capabilities. All faculty are welcome to attend. Please check the CET calendar for schedule.

Teaching with Angel- Level I
This is a two hour hands on workshop  for Blackboard, course studio and first time users. Participants will learn how to build a basic course, export Blackboard courses, add new content and use the fundamental tools needed to support class assignments and activities.

Teaching with Angel -Level II
This two hour workshop is for faculty who have taken Angel One and have used the system for at least two months. This is a great opportunity to discuss ongoing problems and learn how to integrate more advanced features including discussion boards, milestones, assignments, learning games and the grade book.

On-target Angel Workshops
Join other faculty in skill-specific Angel workshops that address individual topics such as managing images, using the grade book, incorporating pod-casts, live chat, etc.

It's Your First day of Class!
Join experienced faculty to discuss effective teaching pedagogies and participate in conversation designed to foster innovation, creativity and excitement in teaching and learning. It's Your First day of a Class is a "must" for new faculty. Refreshments are served.

Tips for Teaching
Brief introductions to effective teaching tips. Topics include: active learning and reflective teaching techniques, prompt feedback, communicating high expectations, timely task completion, preparing an effective syllabus, and setting clear goals and objectives.

Rubrics and Assessment Lab
Everyone wins with rubrics! CET staff can provide assistance with developing course assessment instruments, including rubrics designed for studio classes. Also, the  the rubric and syllabus samples on this web site may be downloaded.

F2F (Faculty-to-Faculty/Face-to-Face)
The CET regularly schedules presentations and demonstrations by FIT faculty members. Topics include innovations in teaching and learning, recent activities and projects, and conference reports.

Professional Development Institutes
The CET sponsors meetings seminars and colloquia on current topics and trends in education. It also arranges telecasts, webcasts, and webinars.

Speakers and Panels
Distinguished experts are often invited to the FIT campus to deliver lectures, workshops, and demonstrations. Please check the CET calendar and FIT portal for updated information.


Technology in Teaching: A Walk-in Clinic
This casual walk-in clinic helps faculty resolve a wide-range of technology questions. Bring your specific questions to the CET and staff will assist you on a one to one basis or in small groups.

High Power Mark-Up and Commenting with Microsoft Word
Want to edit your student’s documents like a pro? This workshop will show you how to mark-up and comment using technology that’s right at your fingertips.

Overcoming the Challenges to Teaching Software
Faculty roundtables address the challenges of teaching software. Classroom management, furniture configuration and programs such as "Synchronize" are explored.


Making the Most of Your Images
Brief introductions to learning how to get your images from camera to computer, organize them and move them from computer to blackboard, the web, or printer.

Blogs and Wikis:
Learn to use on-line communication tools to enhance teaching and learning. Workshops will explore these tools independently and as part of the course management system, Angel.

Podcasting and iLife
Why not i-Life and Podcasting? Learn the simple way to bring sound, image and video together to produce and distribute stunning podcasts.


PowerPoint and Keynote
Support your teaching with effective visualizations and share ideas on what makes a successful presentation.


Slideshows and Scanning Made Easy
Make your pictures move. Learn to turn your images into slide shows that you can upload into Angel or project in your classroom; Lean how to get best quality from your original images for online or print purposes.
