Faculty Senate Committee on Academic Standards

The Faculty Senate Committee on Academic Standards is the governance body responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

1. To determine academic standards, to recommend for faculty action any major modification, and to supervise their implementation.

2. To recommend candidates for academic honors.

3. To adjudicate all individual student problems of academic record such as indices below 2.0, grade appeals, and appeals concerning credit loads and eligibility for graduation.

4. To coordinate the activities of the departmental Academic Standards Committees.

This committee will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 pm. If you are not available to meet at that time, please do not select this committee.

(Note that if required, additional meetings may need to be scheduled.)

The membership of the committee is as follows:

• Eight elected members of the faculty, with two from each division.

• One part-time faculty member, elected at large.

• An alternate elected at large.

• Administrative Head of Student Affairs Division.

• Person responsible for coordinating the College-Wide Program on Academic Advisement (non-voting).
