PROBATION AND DISMISSAL
"The
Committee on Academic Standards reviews student transcripts at the end of each
fall and spring semester. A transcript which shows a semester GPA below 2.0 is
unsatisfactory and the student may be placed on probation or dismissed from the
college. A transcript is also considered unsatisfactory if the student has
received grades of “WD,” “IN,” “D,” or “F” in the course work.
A student may be placed on probation with credit limitations or may be
terminated for unsatisfactory academic performance.
A student who has been dismissed
for academic reasons can register only as a non-degree student on a part-time
basis. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 must be achieved in courses
appropriate to the student ’s former degree program before the student will be
considered for readmission by the Office of Admissions.
A student whose cumulative grade point average is below 2.0 at the completion of
at least 50 percent of the required courses or at the end of the second semester
is not permitted to register for the third semester as a degree student. Any
student dismissed in such a manner has the right to appeal to the major
department in consultation with the Committee on Academic Standards."
