Home What to Do Until You Are Placed with a Tutor How to Make Tutoring Work for You

What to do while waiting to be
scheduled with a tutor.

We understand that you may be anxious to be scheduled with a tutor as soon as possible, but sometimes we are not able to find a tutor right away.  While you are waiting to be assigned a tutor, you may want to follow some of the suggestions listed below.

Your Instructor

1.    Let your instructor know that you are having a problem with the course.  If you feel too
shy to speak up during class, speak with the instructor after class.

2.    Find out if your instructor has office hours.  This is a time when you may speak privately
with the instructor and get some help with the course.

Your Classmates

1.    Ask a classmate if he or she can help with a question you have.

2.    Form a study group with a few students in your class.  In this way, you can help each
other as you review work together.

Look at the list of walk-in classes available.  Both part-time and full-time students can attend walk-ins at various times throughout the day and evening to make it easier to get help NOW while your application is being processed.

Walk-in hours are posted in the Academic Skills Tutoring Center.  Take advantage of these walk-ins.  Remember, you do not need to register for a walk-in ahead of time.  All you need to do is come in at the times listed.
