1.
Grades. How do I respond to an
appeal to change
a grade?
Explain the process and cite the policy.
A student might appeal a grade in the
belief a mistake has been made or that the grade is unfair.
The process is the same in either case. First, speak to the
instructor. If not resolved, appeal to the chairperson of
the department offering the course. If the appeal continues,
the third step is the dean of the school offering the
course. The fourth and last level of appeal is to the Vice
President for Academic Affairs.
The policy is written in the Academic Integrity section of
the "Student Rights and Responsibilities Manual," where
the
section on
Academic Grade Appeal,
appears near the bottom of the text.
