Jeanne
Atkinson |
Professor Jeanne Atkinson has been a global
marketing and development consultant working
with foreign governments, USAID and its
prime contractors, global funding
organizations, foreign apparel associations,
and individual companies in developing
countries to increase their consumer soft
goods’ export businesses, for the past 12
years. She continues to be active in this
arena. She is the president and owner of
Global Marketing Strategies (www.global-marketing-strategies.com).
Implementation of global marketing
strategies for these clients includes
conducting seminars and doing intensive
hands-on teaching and training to factory
owners and managers on such subjects as
1)managing their businesses, 2)
understanding the US and EU apparel markets
including compliance requirements and free
trade laws, 3) raising manufacturing
standards and capacities, 4) developing
web-sites, and 5) becoming proactive. She
has prepared companies to enter European and
US trade shows and has implemented and
managed single country sourcing trade shows
in the US. Prior to this time period, she
held upper level executive positions in
small to medium sized fashion businesses.
She is active in various institutions
related to the fashion industry and women in
the workplace including The Roundtable of
Fashion Executives. She is a former board
member of The Fashion Group International.

Sonja Chapman |
Professor Sonja
Chapman is a licensed customhouse broker with over 20 years experience managing
international transportation logistics and customs compliance for apparel
companies. Professor Chapman teaches courses in International Logistics and
Import / Export Regulations. In addition, she serves as the department’s
coordinator for trade show seminars and is a regular guest speaker at FIT’s
Executive Education Program. Ms. Chapman incorporated her own consulting firm,
Chapman Import Solutions, Inc. in 2004. The focus of her company is providing
reviews of procedures and software systems to integrate and improve logistical
operations, as well as ensure customs compliance for small to midsize firms.
Prior to establishing her firm, Ms. Chapman served as Director of Logistics and
Customs Compliance for Baby Togs, Inc., a large U.S. children’s apparel
manufacturer, for 14 years. The U.S. Secretary of the Department of Agriculture
appointed Ms. Chapman in 2004, to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of
the Cotton Board. Professor Chapman is a former member of the Board of Directors of the U.S.
Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel (USA-ITA) where she has chaired
both their Customs Committee and C-TPAT Best-Practices Committee.

Giacomo Corrado |
Professor
Giacomo Corrado, born in Italy, 1962;
admitted to practice as a member of the New
York Bar in 1992. Education: University of
Bologna, School of Law, Italy (1986);
Fordham University, School of Law, New York
(1990). In 1995, Giacomo was appointed
Vice-Consul of Italy to the U.S., and served
for a four year term, while also acting as
U.S. legal counsel to the Government of
Italy. In 1997, he established his private
practice, later named to reflect his
partnership, Corrado Montgomery, and since
acts as General Legal Counsel exclusively to
the U.S. (and international) operations of
Fashion companies. Giacomo serves on the
Board of Directors of a variety of Fashion
Companies, and served as Chief Executive
Officer to the US operation of one of his
clients. His practice is devoted to
assisting mainly European Fashion Brands
enter and negotiate the U.S. market,
principally from a legal perspective, but
most recently also in an increasingly more
commercial and executive capacity. Areas of
Practice: Commercial Law, with particular
emphasis on Sales of Goods, and Licensing of
Intellectual Property.

Juliette Creglia |
Professor Juliette Creglia has been in the retail
industry for over 20 years and her experience includes buying, product
development and global sourcing. She has held positions with B. Altman & Co,
Alexander's Department Stores, AMC, Federated, Frederick Atkins and currently
with Liz Claiborne. Juliette has traveled the world sourcing a range of products
including home textiles, ceramics, stationary, gold jewelry, gemstone jewelry,
pearl & jade jewelry in addition to costume jewelry. Recent sourcing trips have
included India, Italy, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, and the
Philippines. Professor Creglia is a graduate from the ITM Department.

Dr. Christine D’Onofrio has worked as a senior
legislative financial analyst for the Finance Division of the New York City
Council. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research
where she concentrated in labor economics. Her doctoral work includes research
on the emergence of the American textile industry; and the cyclical and gendered
nature of women’s employment in garment making as well as other manufacturing
industries. Her public policy work includes analysis of the effects of tax
policies on household income and public budgets; technological change in
emerging urban industries; and employment policies. Dr. D’Onofrio has taught
classes in macro, micro and urban economics, women’s studies, public finance,
and research writing.

Pamela Ellsworth |
Professor Pamela Ellsworth joined the Klopman
division of Burlington Industries as part of a team responsible for product
development, marketing, and sales of the division’s products throughout the
world. Within three years, the start-up would account for 18% of the division’s
profits. Upon leaving Burlington, she developed and taught a course on global
apparel trade at IADT in Chicago and consulted with U.S.A.I.D. on projects in
Thailand, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Ethiopia, with the objective of
assisting companies in these countries in marketing their apparel and textiles
to the U.S. and the European Union. Pam studied at FIT’s department of Textile
Technology, Boston’s School of Fashion Design, and received her B.S. from
Cornell University in Apparel and Textile Management. She is currently enrolled
in FIT’s Global Fashion Management graduate program.

Melinda Gist-Lorenz |
Professor Melinda
Lorenz is a global marketing specialist, with broad expertise both in developing
global cosmetics brands and in managing global advertising agency networks.
Professor Lorenz joins FIT from L’Oreal USA, where she was Director of
International Marketing, responsible for building the global business of
Maybelline, a color cosmetics brand sold in more than 90 countries. Her
international experience includes assignments in Latin America, Europe and
Japan. Professor Lorenz earned a Master’s of Business Administration, with a
specialty in international management, from the American Graduate School of
International Business, popularly known as Thunderbird (in Glendale, Arizona).
At Southern Methodist University (in Dallas, Texas) she earned a Bachelor of
Arts in Advertising and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies.

George "Skip" Glenn |
Professor George "Skip" Glenn currently
serves as Director for Marketing and Business Solutions for Borough of Manhattan
Community College of the City University of New York (CUNY), and has worked on
grant, program and curriculum development for New York City Technical College in
Brooklyn. Prior to serving CUNY, he worked in national and international
marketing and sales of Hydrotherm Systems which manufactures ecologically and
employee-friendly biological controls for the textile and manufacturing
industries. His international experience has been focused on the development of
marketing campaigns for conservation and environmental projects throughout the
Caribbean and Latin America. Recently, working with a team at Baruch College, he
has won Gold Award from the Direct Marketing Association for ING Challenge 2005.
As a member of the ITM department, Professor Glenn works both online and in-
class to help students develop stronger entrepreneurial skills in recognizing
opportunities in the marketplace and also serves as the department's grants
liaison. He earned his Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Sciences from The
University of Virginia and is completing his Masters in Marketing at the Zicklin
School of Business at Baruch College.

Guillermo Jimenez |
Professor Guillermo Jimenez is an international trade specialist trained
at Harvard University (B.A.) and the University of California --
Berkeley (J.D.). A former Head of Division at the International Chamber
of Commerce (ICC) headquarters in Paris, he has published two books and
numerous articles on international trade topics, and has lectured in 35
countries. While at the ICC, he managed the international committees of
experts which draft the rules governing letters of credits and Incoterms.
He has collaborated with, and addressed meetings of, various inter
governmental organizations, including the World Trade Organization, the
European Commission, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law,
and the Institute for the Unification of Private International Law. He
has previously taught at the University of California -- Berkeley, the
Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Lyon, and the Institute for
International Management (Paris). His consulting clients have included
I.B.M., the National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, and the Jordan
Shipping Association.

Shireen Musa |
Professor Shireen Musa graduated from FIT in 1994 with a
B.S. in Marketing and International Trade, earned a MBA from Saint
Peter’s College, and is a licensed U.S. Customhouse Broker. After doing
an internship at The Donna Karan Company she was offered a position
managing import, export and Customs compliance programs . In 1999 she
became Project Manager in the Global Supply Chain Organization at Lucent
Technologies, Bell Labs Innovations. She came back to FIT in 2002 as a
part-time adjunct, developed and taught the course IN323 Import/Export
Regulations, launched its online version a year later, and in 2005
piloted ITM's Mentoring Program. As a full-time professor since 2008,
Professor Musa serves as ITM's liaison to the Admissions Office and is
responsible for developing ITM's field of global sourcing mainly through
its senior course IN433 Global Sourcing and other elective sourcing
courses such as International Corporate Responsibility, sourcing of
textile and home products, and sourcing principles for designers.

Christine Pomeranz
ITM Chair |
Professor
Christine Pomeranz was an international banker for twenty years, most recently
with Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (“ANZ”) as Senior
Vice President and Regional Head of Structured Trade Services-Americas,
arranging financing solutions for multinational companies, commodity
traders, financial institutions, and large corporations in North and
Latin America. Prior to joining ANZ, Christine was a relationship
manager at The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in New
York, providing trade finance services to middle market customers
primarily in the apparel and fashion industry. She started her career at
Citibank in the Philippines and New York as account manager in the
International Financial Institutions Division. Professor Pomeranz has
taught at New York University and World Trade Institute of Pace
University. As the faculty coordinator of the ITM Advisory Board, she
organizes guest lecture series, field trips, career development
programs, and fund raising activities to enhance the students’
professional development. She earned her Master of Business
Administration degree with majors in Finance and International Business
from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University in
1998. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree major in Business
Administration with honors at Assumption College in Manila, Philippines
in 1980.

Shona Quinn |
Professor Shona Quinn’s work is focused on the application of industrial ecology
in the fashion industry, examining how the industry can increase profits through
sustainable methods. Ms. Quinn has over 10 years of experience with leading
fashion companies including Calvin Klein, Anne Klein and Federated Department
Stores. She has extensive sourcing experience, including travel to over 25
countries. Her research linking product development to sustainability
initiatives is backed by her knowledge of core components of the fashion
business – fabric research, product development, merchandising and buying.
Professor Quinn received a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Trade and
Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and a Master’s Degree in
Environmental Management from Yale University. She is an adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology
where she
teaches “Global Sourcing in the Textile Industries” and is developing a new course titled “International
Corporate Responsibility.”

Donna Sharp |
Professor Donna Sharp has more than 25 years of
international business experience having held positions in operations,
logistics, sales, marketing, finance and executive management and holds
an undergraduate degree in International Studies from Fordham University
and a Masters Degree in Advanced Management and Finance from Columbia
University's School of International and Public Affairs. She has trained
students and professionals worldwide on a wide range of business topics
including International Business, Import/Export Management, Global
Logistics Management, Logistics Technology, Cargo Security in a Post
9/11 Environment, Sales & Marketing Techniques, and Trade Policy. At the
World Trade Institute, where Donna served as the Executive Director for
5 years, she developed courses and seminars for entrepreneurs and
seasoned professionals, including a comprehensive online curriculum for
international trade management and international taxation. She serves on
the World Bank's Global Trade Facilitation Committee, the Board of
Directors of the Organization of Women in International Trade and the
Advisory Board of FIT's Department of International Trade and Marketing
(ITM). She is appointed by the Secretary of Commerce of the United
States to the New York District Export Council to assist small and
medium sized businesses with their export expansion. She is a member of
the American Business Council for DOHA, the Washington International
Trade Association, the Council of Logistics Management, The Traffic Club
of New York and U.S. b Mexico Chamber of Commerce. In 2001, Donna
received the International Service Award from the Manhattan
International Development Corporation for her efforts in spearheading
the organization of World Trade Week and served as the Chairperson for
World Trade Week in New York City for four consecutive years.

Patrick Yanez |
Professor Patrick Yanez is an economist who teaches
international trade and global marketing.
He has taught at NYC Technical College, Kingsborough Community
College (CUNY), and Marymount Manhattan College. He is a former president of the NY
Computer Society and former system operator (SYSOP) of METRO-BBS, one of
the first electronic bulletin boards in New York City. Prior to his
current faculty appointment at FIT, he served as the Director of the
Business & Industry Training Center at NYC Technical College (CUNY)
where he developed training programs for the NY/NJ Port Authority at the
World Trade Center, the New York State banking industry, IBM, NY
Telephone, General Motors, Bear Stearns, Mount Sinai Medical Center,
AT&T, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, the Brooklyn Navy
Yard Development Corporation, Teachers Insurance Annuity Association (TIAA),
Jamaica Hospital, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and
Development, The Depository Trust Company, and various other private and
public institutions. As an Associate Editor of Business Latin America, a
trade publication of Business International Corporation owned by The
Economist, he covered Brazil and provided economic analysis on Latin
America. Professor Yanez has authored courses on global marketing,
international logistics, and college seniors’ field trips focusing on
fashion, textile, and apparel aspects of regional trade agreements, such
as the European Union, NAFTA, CAFTA, MEFTA, ASEAN, APEC, and MERCOSUR.
Professor Yanez served two terms as ITM Chairperson from 2001 until
2007.
