Brazil - January 3 -20, 2014

 

Experience Brazil's international trade, history, fashion, culture, arts, and people in this unique class trip . We will visit historical sites, fashion companies, agencies, museums, art galleries, etc. Program fee is $3,300**, plus Brazil's visa fee***, and 3-credit tuition. Trip fee includes: airfare, double-room, continental breakfast, and three group sightseeing tours. See estimated of total cost below.

   * Ending date might be shortened to keep trip fee as announced
 ** This fee is an estimate based on 2013 costs
*** Brazil's tourist visa fee for US citizens is $140

PROGRAM CALENDAR (Tentative)

 

March - Sept. 14:  Submit  Pre-Application as early as possible and send email to Professor Patrick Yanez to a schedule pre-application conference.
 

April: Meet with Professor Yanez to finalize selection of Practicum project.

 

May: Ensure passport is valid through 2014.

 

Summer: Conduct readings and research on selected Practicum project.

 

July:  If your Pre-Application is approved, submit online Application to FIT's Office of International Programs (OIP). Instructions to follow.

 

September: Meet with Professor Yanez to discuss progress on Practicum project.

Ask personal physician if any vaccine is needed for Brazil.


October:  First pre-departure orientation session. Date to be announced.

 

November:  Second pre-departure orientation session. Date to be announced. Register for Practicum class. Get visa.

 

December: Third pre-departure orientation session. Date to be announced.

 

January 3: Tentative departure date, to be confirmed in November.

 

January 20: Tentative return date, to be confirmed in November.

Travel arrangements for this course are handled by OIP, located in room B-119. All questions about flights, hotel accommodations should be addressed to this office.

PROGRAM FEES:

 

Program fee is $3,300** plus 3-credit tuition. Trip fee includes: airfare, double-room, continental breakfast, and three group sightseeing tours.

 

PAYMENT DEADLINES:

Upon Approval

Upon approval of the pre-application, students should pay a total of $260 ($200 Deposit + $60 OIP Application Fee).

Note:  since FIT forwards these monies to the selected travel agency to reserve airfare and hotel at group rates, these payments are non-refundable. No exceptions.

VISAS   

Brazil's tourist visa for US citizens is $140. In October FIT's Office of International Programs will provide instructions on how to get visas for this field trip.
